Integrate Art Therapy acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land; the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people, and the Boonwurrung people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to Aboriginal elders past and present and recognise the rich and sacred culture and connection to land that Aboriginal people continue to practice, spanning over 65,000 years.

What is art therapy?

Art therapy can be a valuable tool for processing thoughts and emotions, fostering resilience, and gaining self-insight through expression. Contrary to talk therapies, creative therapeutic approaches can access parts of our brain that words and language cannot. Its unique non-verbal nature allows for processing and integration through our body's senses while we work with our therapist.

Our dedicated therapists provide guidance and support within a secure environment. We integrate, feminist, queer, client-centered, holistic, strength-based and trauma-informed principles in our practice. Recognising the diversity of individual needs, we understand that a one-size-fits-all approach is insufficient. Our belief is grounded in the idea that positive therapeutic change unfolds when clients are authentically supported, allowing them to be themselves, and while acknowledging intersections of experience.

Therapeutic Support for Victim/Survivors of Family Violence

In addition to other areas of our work, we currently provide therapeutic sessions and programs for victim/ survivors of family violence.

Our practitioners focus on fostering sensitive, interactive and/or playful engagement among individuals, children, their parents or caregivers in crisis. Through art-making and play, we aim to create a comforting buffer for the unpredictable and high-pressure nature of systemic and organisational interactions. Our therapeutic group programs are adaptable to various settings including refuges, outreach locations, and other organisational facilities. These programs aim to offer individuals choice, stability, respite, and meaningful experiences, catering to the systemic expectations of Victim/Survivors while aligning with organisational standards. They address common challenges such as prolonged downtime encountered by clients residing in refuges.

In our dyadic work, we support parents by modelling child-led play techniques, emphasising the importance of nurturing connections and reinforcing attachment bonds. Additionally, our specialised groups offer support to victim/survivors during pregnancy, providing a safe haven where clients can disconnect from external pressures ,while being with others experiencing similar situations.
